Work in the area of academic writing continues to get my attention. In early days of automated essay scoring (AES) software, educators debated the effectiveness of these tools. This technology has helped students improve written language by providing consistent and immediate feedback with grammar instruction.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is now prevalent and gaining greater acceptance for daily applications. AI tools help authors generate ideas, develop characters, and create fictional worlds. Ownership of text produced with AI presents a very different argument than those focused on AES as a learning tool.

Is using grammar assistance cheating? How was this story created? The difference in these questions is not subtle!
